First-of-its kind regenerative agriculture standard announce newest program component, seeks the next 100 farmers to begin go-to-market pilots this spring.

The biggest flour miller in the U.S. is looking to shift 250,000 acres of wheat fields to using regenerative agriculture practices, including cover crops by the end of this year. Ardent Mills, the largest North American miller of wheat for flour, is based in Denver, Colo., and wants to improve soil health, water quality, and crop yields while simultaneously trying to keep climate change at bay.

The regenerative agriculture movement, including cover crops, has officially reached into the mainstream. Fashion brands such as Wrangler, Patagonia, and even Gucci are partnering with cotton farms that focus on soil health and carbon sequestration through using covers.

This free, two-day virtual event is the third annual National Cover Crop Summit, and promises to be the best one yet, with an outstanding speaker line up and intriguing topics.

Forty-five farms in Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and North Dakota are headed into their second growing season working with General Mills on the adoption of “regenerative agriculture” practices as they grow oats for the multi-national food company.
