Focus On End Goals First When Adding Cover Crops to Corn Production
While corn has been grown for over 9,000 years, equipment, processes and even the geography that it is grown in has changed. One of the evolving markets when it comes to growing this nutritious grass plant is in conjunction with cover crops.
Lessons Learned from Cover Crop Champions
A network of cover crop champions has been recruited by AHDB Cereals & Oilseeds to provide practical case studies on the impact of cover crop approaches. Following on-farm trial design principles, each of the eight champions has established a cover crop ahead of various cash crops for harvest 2025. Supported by AHDB, the champions will record core measurements and observations to help assess the impact of each approach.
Mastering Cover Crops in Regions with Short Winters, Long Hot Summers
Are you struggling with soil challenges like compaction, soil erosion, or poor water retention on your fields? Or maybe you’re exploring how cover crops could benefit your fields but aren’t sure where to start—or even if they work at all? Check out this Q&A session with Dr. Timothy Bradford Jr. (T.J.), a Soil Scientist and Precision Agriculture Expert who knows the ins and outs of farming in the Mississippi Delta and other regions with similar soil types and weather patterns.
Cover Crops: Just One Piece of the Soil Health Puzzle
In this webinar, Dr. Hannah Waterhouse, professor of Environmental Studies at UC Santa Cruz, talks about soil health principles and the ecosystem services they provide – from carbon sequestration to water conservation. In particular, the talk focuses on cover cropping and the importance of this practice for improving water provisioning and quality on the Central Coast of California.
