Cover Crops Could Help Smooth Transition to No-Till
This farmer posted a Tweet about how he is really interested in no-till, but has been having some difficulties with a smooth transition. Dozens of other farmers chimed in and offered advice on what might make the process easier. One suggestion — planting cover crops.
No till is cool to conserve moisture until it conserves too much and drowns stuff out it can’t soak it all up. I think increasing notill is in our future but I think everything needs to get drain tiled first.

Pete Youngblut of Dysart, Iowa, posted this note on Facebook about how stressful this time of year can be for farmers. But he says one thing you must never take for granted is the support of a loving family to help you get through the stressful times.
Grower Says Triticale Cover Crop Helps Increase Yield & Soil Health Fast
This grower posted in the “Everything Cover Crops,” Facebook group recently and showed off some pictures of no-tilling triticale into a sorghum sudan grass cover crop in North Central Kansas. He says the triticale will be sprayed out in mid-May of next year, and soybeans will be no-tilled into the mix of residue. One grower commented about increased yield for 3 years and counting from the same strategy!
