Salford Group knows cover crops. Salford’s Valmar 56 series seeders set the bar for versatility and accuracy in cover crop seeding. These machines accurately handle a wide variety of seed and blends, while pairing with virtually any implement to seed cover crops while performing other field operations. Salford has a variety of tillage implements that are suitable for seeding with the 56 series applicators. Seeding Cover Crops Over Soybeans with a Drone
Over the course of this video by Green Bay's WFRV, the company American Drone outlines how drone dispensing works, and demonstrates using a drone to apply covers.
Driving in Steve Groff’s Cover-Cropped Fields No Problem Despite 4 Inches of Rain
Holtwood, Penn., farmer Steve Groff (aka the Cover Crop Coach) proves the power of cover crops in this video from a rainy day in his field this week. USDA staff in a pickup truck had no problem driving into his cover-cropped hemp field to take soil tests, despite 4 inches of rain in 4 days. It’s a story we love to hear, Steve!
4" of rain in 4 days and we are driving in the #hemp field taking soil tests! #regenerativeagriculture #covercrops #notill pic.twitter.com/SATqWNR8Co

Susterre Preparing Water-Till Equipment for Market
Susterre CEO Michael Cully walks through the company's water jet tillage equipment adapted to a John Deere planter. In this video, he shows how the high-pressure water jets to cut through a heavy ryegrass cover crop planted into year-over-year corn. "With our technology, farmers can handle the heavy crop residue that comes with regenerative ag."
Does Your State Offer a Cover Crop Insurance Discount?
This friendly reminder from the Iowa Department of Agriculture could apply to numerous states in the Midwest. Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin all use or have used rebates or discounts on crop insurance for planting cover crops. The federal government has a similar program extended through 2022. Remember to check whether planting covers this fall means paying less for crop insurance.
If you plant cover crops this fall, you can receive a $5 per acre discount on spring crop insurance premiums. Farmers and landowners can learn more and apply for the crop insurance discount program beginning December 1. https://t.co/fbKmJxBBE9 #IowaAg #CoverIowa pic.twitter.com/pVtNpYfi1u

Purdue: Survey Gives Mixed Messages on Cover Crops
This month's Purdue Ag Economy Barometer survey included a series of questions about cover crops as a follow-up to a 2021 survey. The data shows nearly 6 out of 10 respondents plant cover crops on at least part of their land. The percentage of farmers who planted covers on a quarter or less of their ground has recorded a third straight year of declines. However, almost three-quarters of respondents say they're planting covers on more than that. This suggests that growers who try the practice adopt it for increasing shares of their land, or that the number of cover croppers who jump in with both feet has increased.
6) Half of the farmers in this month’s #AgBarometer survey who plant cover crops say they only do so on 25% or less of their cropland. At the same time, nearly a fourth of respondents said they plant #covercrop on over 50% of their farms’ acreage. pic.twitter.com/XP1zmxLRAO
