Salford Group knows cover crops. Salford’s Valmar 56 series seeders set the bar for versatility and accuracy in cover crop seeding. These machines accurately handle a wide variety of seed and blends, while pairing with virtually any implement to seed cover crops while performing other field operations. Salford has a variety of tillage implements that are suitable for seeding with the 56 series applicators. Some Salford tillage machines can be used for hay and pasture renovation, and others can be used to work in standing cover crops as green manure. U.S. Soil Judging Team Wins First Place at World Contest
U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A! Congratulations to the American soil judging team on their first-place finish at the World Congress of Soil Science in Glasgow, Scotland. Nebraska’s Kennadi Griffis, Wisconsin-Platteville’s Isaac Nollen, and Virginia Tech’s Clare Tallamy and Ben Atkins, captured soil supremacy at the 20th annual contest.
Sunflower Fields Forever
Here’s one of the coolest things you’ll see this week. This video, from Jon Stevens, takes us inside Treasured Haven Farm’s famous sunflower fields in Rush City, Minnesota. Jon gets the scoop from co-owner Pete Johnson and his son, Ike, on why the fields have become a fixture in the community and provide a unique source of revenue.
Cover Crops Save Tennessee Farmer’s Bottom Line and Fish Population
Jimmy Standefer has been using cover crops for nearly 50 years (!) on his 700-acre farm just west of Chattanooga, Tennessee. The cover cropping legend reflects on his epic journey in this 1-on-1 interview with Tennessee Aquarium. He also explains how cover crops boost his bottom line and protect local aquatic life.
The “Rite Way” to Roll Cover Crops
“Young Red Angus” takes us along for the journey as he rolls his summer cover crops for the first time, using a Rite Way Crush-Rite crop roller. The western Kansas farmer planted the mix (jimmy red corn, sunflower, buckwheat, sunn hemp and daikon radish) in early June.

Interseeding Results in Northwest Ohio
